Alistair Little

Alistair Little

We are delighted to be holding this our second one man exhibition of Alistair Little’s work. His first show took place on account of the inspiration of my former co-Director Peter Jensen. Peter, who is still actively involved in the gallery, had spotted an artist at The Panter & Hall gallery who could conceivably translate his Film Noir style and passion for the American film industry of the early and mid- 20th Century, into racing and sporting art with a unique and vibrant style that stands out from the crowd.

Alistair fulfilled all expectations in that first exhibition in 2013 and this new body of work of which I have had brief glimpses, is further proof that a highly talented artist has turned his hand with style and finesse to this new genre of which he is still relatively unexposed.

Equine artists who are not necessarily associated with the horse, or are not considered to have an in-depth knowledge by insiders, can be derided; in my opinion sometimes correctly, sometimes incorrectly. In the case of Alistair, from day one of this new artistic venture, I have not heard one negative comment from the cognoscenti. His love of theatre, and of depicting mysterious, unguarded moments, have brought a new dimension to this challenging milieu, and as Alistair says his pictures tell a story but he is giving nothing away.

I cannot wait to see this new show of Alistair’s in its entirety, and to use an interesting analogy I believe he is the real McCoy.
