We are delighted to be hosting the third one woman show by Clementine St John Webster. The exhibition is based on her recent travels to Egypt, where she spent time at an Arab Stud enhancing her passion for horses and bloodstock. Trips to Venice and Florence, where Clem explored the connection and influence of Arab culture on both Italian art and architecture. Finally, back home to England where she painted the beautiful British Coastline as well as the lively and colorful Giffords Circus, a much loved rural idyl. Subjects that I believe are grounding in today’s high-tech world. For Clem, the influence of Sorella in her recent work has been considerable, her use of impressive chiaroscuro is noticeable, something the Old Masters understood so well and why Florence is so important to her. Moreover, the English Impressionist, Dame Laura Knight whose subjects and dexterous painterly style are apparent too. Clementines paintings convey the strong appreciation and respect she has for each place and culture she has visited and demonstrates stunning craftsmanship learnt by Italian Masters, creating one of a kind works that you will certainly not want to miss!
