Page 2 - OSG: Nichola Eddery: 2025
P. 2
It is a real pleasure to introduce Nichola Eddery, whose work
enriches the visitor experience at the National Horseracing
Museum in Newmarket as our resident artist, and whose
third solo exhibition at the Osborne Studio Gallery in London
confirms her position as one of the most gifted equestrian
artists working today.
Nichola brings to her practice a rare combination of classical
training, technical mastery, and deep intuitive understanding
of the horse. Her work is rooted in the traditions of the Old
Masters, yet it is unmistakably contemporary in its precision
and vitality. Whether working in oil, graphite, or charcoal, her
portraits convey not just anatomical accuracy, but the character,
spirit, and lives of her subjects.
Raised in a racing family, Nichola understands her subject
from the inside out, and it shows. Her art captures not only
the beauty and athleticism of the thoroughbred but also the
nuance of the racing world — the silks, the stables, the fleeting
moment before the off. It is this authenticity that has earned
her admirers across the racing and sporting world, as well as
collectors far beyond it.
We are proud to count Nichola as part of the NHRM’s
creative community and are delighted to see her work receive
the recognition it so richly deserves. This new exhibition
promises to be another compelling chapter in a career of
growing distinction.
