Michelle’s enthusiasm for drawing and interest with the anatomy of animals come hand in hand. In the corner of her studio sits piles of full sketchbooks from wherever she goes. Her life drawing have become the fundamental inspiration to her new paintings. A unique and compelling effect in many of her paintings is the juxtaposition of a single horse or group of horses, drawn in oil paint using bright colours. The backgrounds become an attempt to create the movement and mood of the image. In some cases only a few simple marks are enough to leave the viewer to trust their own knowledge of the animal. Michelle lives and works in Dorset with her little lurcher and thoroughbred mare often accompanying her to the studio.
Michelle continued to exhibit in various mixed shows with The Osborne Studio Gallery including The Impressions of The Turf Exhibition.
