Amanda Ward Thomas at the Royal Ascot Racing Club

Born in London and raised on a farm in Sussex, Amanda Ward Thomas' equine paintings reflect a celebration of life, energy and movement developed through her interest in country life.

Her expressive paintings follow the long established tradition of British sporting art, but with a contemporary twist. The muscular horses and jostling hounds in Amanda's paintings seem to overpower the canvas, where movement is explosively communicated through odd angles and multi dimensional layers, giving a real sense of the thrill of the hunt and the racecourse. The power of her paintings conveys the energy of her subject through vigorously broad and sweeping brush strokes and clever use of the palette knife.

Since qualifying with an BS(hons) degree in fine art in 2007 Amanda has enjoyed growing success with her solo exhibitions and the Osborne Studio Gallery are pleased to have her as an established fixture at The Royal Ascot Racing Club.
