Foreword by Geoffrey C S Hughes

We are proud that, as the gallery enters its twenty fifth year, we are able to present this pre-eminent exhibition A New Era. Whilst embodying much of our past, this show looks to the future and a new decade, incorporating the strongest and most talented stable of artists that we have ever represented.

The majority of our artists are British, however art is an international language and in this show of work by eighteen of our leading paintings and sculptors, we are delighted, but not surprised, that represented here are artists from Ireland, Italy, China, Kenya and Zimbabwe.

Contemporary racing and sporting art has always been and remains very much our speciality. However, I hope this exhibition and those planned for the future will emphasize our determination to promote artists in whom we believe, whatever subject matter they have chosen to paint or sculpt. Our intention is to represent artists who bring style and emotion to their work, thus heightening the senses and giving enjoyment and pleasure to those that view their art.

The depth of talent amongst our artists is reflected in a fine and diverse exhibition list for 2010 in addition to four major one-man shows planned for 2011. We look forward to welcoming you here to the gallery; we promise that your visit will not be an intimidating experience, but one that will inspire and uplift!
